Formby has a long history, with the area recorded in the Doomsday book. The first lighthouse was erected here as well as the first lifeboat station, reflecting the town's coastal setting.
It is home to historic sporting clubs and facilities but has never stood still, reflected in the development of the new Formby Pool and Parkland opened just a few years ago. The intention was for this project to act as a new focal point for the local community.
The area is home to important habitats and wildlife, and yet retains a suburban feel and has strong social networks.
The whole area is served by excellent communication links with good motoway, road, train, bus and cycle routes.
There are easy access points to the coast and the town has the benefit of its own retail centre and a range of white collar, leisure, residential care, nursing home, child-minding, agricultural and animal businesses located in the town and surrounding areas.
The area includes pine forests, natural (and man-made) sand dunes, marram grass, deciduous woodland, seasonal ponds and lakes and has a temperate climate with mild winters and warm summers.
All in all Formby is a great place to live, work and visit.
